A Knockout Right Hook That Leaves Blood On The Ice - Slewfoot to release second EP
Almost exactly one year since releasing their debut EP, Baytown Hardcore’s Slewfoot return with Built For War, their new EP that lives up to its name.
Slewfoot came to exist out of necessity as the hardcore scene in Barrie was in need of a line change, and to fill up a roster with new contenders. In a very short amount of time, Slewfoot’s dynamic and unrelenting live shows became the place to be and helped Baytown Hardcore bring much deserved attention to the music coming out of Barrie.
Their Misconduct EP was a heavy-hitting introduction that packed massive riffs, blasting drums, and aggressive vocals, collectively creating a variety of styles that never went stale. Built For War doubles down and delivers a bigger, and more devastating punch that leaves a lasting impression in its modest 11-minute run time. If Misconduct was a haymaker - swung wildly, guided by nothing but raw power in a general direction, Built For War is the calculated knockout right-hook that leaves blood on the ice.
It is a disservice to call it a tracklist, when Built For War feels more like a hit list. Each track is a No B.S. callout to a variety of industries, and people that need to step up. Perpetrators include the corrupt and unsustainable meat industry, predatory and cowardly ‘men’ who prey on drunk victims, rival bands, and more. Utilizing each member's influences and strengths, the EP harnesses the best elements of classic hardcore, beatdown, power violence, and hints of metalcore to create a complete experience that keeps the listener engaged while being absolutely pummeled.
Built For War captures Slewfoot at their absolute best, and crushes an ungodly amount of banger material in just 5 tracks. It is clear the band has taken time to create something that genuinely represents them, and Baytown as a whole.
Built For War will be released January 17, with a physical release (including the Misconduct EP) available the same day via the Frozen Scream/Icebreaker record label HERE.
The EP Release Party is on January 25 at The Queen's Hotel in downtown Barrie and features support from Street Justice, Just Right, and Over It. Click the link HERE for more information.
